Almost 16 years ago Brandon and I met through my cousin Carly. At first I honestly wasn't that into him. He definitely was good looking but he was one of those guys who liked himself a whole lot. : ) After a few weeks of phone calls I finally gave in and went on a group date with him. I was really nervous. He was an older guy and you know 3 years to teenager is like 10. LOL
So nervously I stood there at White Marsh movies (which use to be called Lowes) with my cousin and girlfriend. I remember I kept saying to them.... "what if he stands me up?" I swear within seconds there he was the man I eventually would marry and raise a family with. First thing I noticed about Brandon was his eyes. Prettiest color of blue I had ever seen. In that very moment we made eye contact and that feeling of nervousness was completely gone.
Brandon and I dated for 3 months and I became pregnant. I was completely devastated thinking my life was over. I was petrified. How were we going to raise a child when we were still children ourselves? I even questioned if Brandon was even going to stick around. From the moment I told Brandon I was pregnant he was excited. He was so very proud of the life we had created together. He definitely helped ease my worries and reassured me that a family would have happen sooner or later...just a bit sooner then we thought.
After the initial shock of a teenage pregnancy we planned and talked more about our future. Brandon graduated from high school and began working in a factory.
One afternoon I was at my cousin Carly's house and there was a knock at the door. Carly opened the door and it was Brandon. With roses in his hand he came walking up the steps. He kissed me and said, " let's go get your ring." I was about 5 months pregnant at this time. So you know I was an emotional basket-case. LOL We went that evening and bought my engagement ring. Nothing fancy but it sure is beautiful to me.
December rolls around and we welcome our precious baby girl Hannah Noel Stavros-McCauley. She was our unexpected gift that God knew we needed.
May 19th, 2001 @ 3pm in a small backyard service I married my best friend. We had our ups and downs, as we were only teenagers learning and growing together. We have awesome parents we could look up to and admire their relationships.
December 2003 we welcomed Brandon Jay McCauley Jr. (BJ) Our little family was complete. Brandon had his boy. : )
Now this coming April Brandon and I will renew our love for each other. Life has gotten so busy for us. We need to take the time to remember each other and celebrate US!
Who would have thought something this beautiful would have blossomed from a teenage romance. We are a rare oddity and I treasure us and our story.
April 25, 2016 on the beach of Cozumel we will renew our love for each other.
